Painting the city with flowers

Flowery Apartments

One of my favourite things about using film for photography is the joy of double exposures. I took these photos with my Nikon F55 which is a film SLR that you can pick up for next to nothing. It uses all the lenses that my D300 does so I get all the joy of film with all the modern technology that comes with digital. I used slide film and got it cross-processed at Photographique.

For these photos I shot the whole roll of film around the city of Bristol where I live. I then rewound the film and put it through my camera again, photographing flowers and leaves and other naturey stuff. It’s pretty simple to do, there’s a tool for hooking the end of the film out of the canister once it’s wound back in or you can take it to your local photographic developing shop and they should be kind enough to do it for you.

What I love most about my iPhone is Instagram! If you’ve got an iPhone and not got Instagram, go and download it now, you won’t be disappointed. It creates great effects on your photos.

I’m Starpixie on Instagram, look me up!

Jumping time!!

The weather was lovely yesterday we went for a walk at Ashton Court for a walk. We saw some lovely fallow deer hiding in the shade (which made for gloomy photos unfortunately) and lots of cute little dogs out for walks. I decided to jump about like a loony whilst Daz took some photos.

We went for a wander by the harbour in Bristol earlier in the week, I took my Lomo LC-A camera with me, hopefully I’ll get the film developed next week. This weekend is the Bristol Harbour Festival so there will be hundreds of boats and thousands of people about. I’ve got a stall on Corn Street and I’m hoping to make the most of all the extra people.

I’ve found myself photographing flowers a lot recently. I think it’s because that kind of photography was frowned apon during my degree so now I can create pretty pictures without worrying about what tutors would think!

Here’s a few photos from the past week. The weather has been pretty rubbish so we haven’t got out much. A typical British summer!

We went to a fun day to raise money for Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary and there were so many cute doggies!

These were the smallest dogs there, and the loudest!

We thought this cutie should win cutest puppy but it didn’t even get a rosette!

The runner beans in our garden are flowering, such a wonderful colour.
